Fortunately, Ricky’s foundation in Mandarin strengthened through courses like reading, listening, and speaking proved invaluable. “My Mandarin classes at BINUS helped me adapt quickly when I first arrived in China. Many classroom topics also covered Chinese culture and daily life, which made my transition much easier,” Ricky shared.

One of the most rewarding aspects of Ricky’s exchange experience was meeting new friends from different backgrounds. “I had the chance to connect with students from Japan, Russia, and other countries, which broadened my perspective on global cultures,” he said. Beyond academics, Ricky was deeply impressed by China’s efficient public transportation system. “The transportation here is extremely comfortable and safe. I really hope Indonesia can continue improving its public transport to match this level of convenience,” he expressed. Experiencing daily life in a well-connected city like Chongqing further enriched his understanding of urban development and infrastructure.
