Faculty of Humanities Binus-Adventist University of Philippines Virtual Bo(u)nding: Day 1

On December 17th, 2020, I had the opportunity to participate in this webinar, along with other Binus University students from the faculty of humanities and Adventist University Philippines students. This webinar was held via zoom, started at 9.00 WIB, and ended around 12.00 WIB.The screenshot of the collaborative event

We started with a cooking session taught by Ruchel Clasan. Ms. Clasan showed us how to cook a typical Filipino dish called Adobo Chicken. This dish’s main ingredient is chicken, followed by condiments and spices, making the dish tasty. I am delighted to learn this recipe, and maybe I will impress my family soon. After the cooking session was over, we were given a brief presentation. The presentation was about the Philippines, its culture, and the learning system. I personally think that the presentation is very useful and adds insights.

One of the most exciting parts of the event is the game session. The games we played were similar to Heads Up, but with a twist. In Indonesia, this game is more familiarly called “Iya, Tidak, Bisa Jadi!”(inspired by the game show, Eat Bulaga). One blindfolded player had to guess a word, and the partner can only answer “yes,” “no,” or “maybe,” according to the blindfolded player’s guess. What makes this game interesting is that we had to use Filipino when we wanted to say “yes,” “no,” and “maybe.” After the game, we were put into break-out rooms randomly to teach each other’s languages. Students from the Philippines taught Indonesian students Filipino and vice versa. This activity was my favorite thing during the webinar because we got to know each other and learned about each other’s languages and cultures.

This collaborative webinar was pleasant, and It has been an excellent experience for me, and maybe for the other participants. We still got two more days to go, and I am looking forward to Day-2 of this fun event!
